My hero of the day is Bruno Lucchio Dino Ferrato Hansen. 34 years old, he's sailing around the world and living in a wheelchair on a yacht. He's biggest dream is to climb a tree.

"The last time someone asked me about my biggest fear, I was sitting on a yacht off Sumatra and I told him that my biggest fear was losing my legs. Three months later I had a car accident and broke my back and basically lost my legs. So my biggest fear now, so I've learnt, is not to have a biggest fear, to let it go."

"Do I feel free? Very free. I feel I can die tomorrow and I'll have done what I needed to do on the earth. Not that I want to die tomorrow but I'm not afraid of dying and I think that's what sets a person free."

"My message to the planet is, be happy, keep striving, never give up and there is no such word as 'can't', anything can be done and I think anything can be done with joy. And I think one of the biggest things is appreciation. Appreciate what you have, at all times. After 7 years of being in a wheelchair, I've done more in life being in a chair than out of one. I still surf, I sail the world, I free-dive, after many people said I couldn't do that. I think it comes from connecting with nature, connecting with the energy of life. Because we're all disabled in some way on the planet: spiritually, mentally or physically. I got the easy part."

  1. I love the message! Appreciation is so essential. When I start feeling down I realize I haven't been feeling thank-ful, it always helps! Going through trials with joy...hmmm yes I think so. thanks

  3. Why does it always take adversity to remind ourselves of the important things in life. He makes me feel very humble. A great guy!
